What it is

K-Bot was the flagship humanoid of K-Scale Labs, a Y Combinator-backed Palo Alto startup founded in 2024. The 1.4 m, 34 kg biped was priced at $8,999 for the first 100 units and shipped with an open hardware design, a Rust-based K-OS, simulation pipelines and open vision-language-action models; each arm could lift about 10 kg and the swappable battery ran for up to four hours. K-Scale ran out of funding and wound down in late 2025, releasing its designs and software openly.
