Figure 02 was officially launched on August 6, 2024 as Figure AI's second-generation humanoid robot, described by the company as "the most advanced humanoid robot in the world". Official specifications: about 1.7 m tall, 70 kg, a 20 kg maximum payload, roughly 5 hours of runtime (2.25 kWh battery) and a maximum speed of 1.2 m/s. Key upgrades over Figure 01: 3× the onboard compute and AI inference performance, fourth-generation 16-DOF dexterous hands, six RGB cameras plus an onboard vision-language model (enabling end-to-end voice dialogue), an exoskeleton structure for greater stiffness, and fully consolidated and optimized cabling and connectors.
Figure 02 is the first Figure robot to enter a real factory production line: in July–August 2024 it completed several weeks of sheet-metal loading trials at BMW's Spartanburg plant (confirmed in BMW's official press release of August 6, 2024), and from 2025 it was formally deployed — running 1,250+ hours over 11 months, loading 90,000+ parts and helping 30,000+ BMW X3 vehicles roll off the line. Figure calls this "the first time in human history that a humanoid robot has worked continuously on a production line".
In February 2025 Figure released its in-house Helix VLA model and deployed it on Figure 02 (able to operate two robots at once and pick up arbitrary small household items), marking its gradual move away from dependence on OpenAI models (the partnership ended about a year later). With the release of Figure 03 in October 2025, Figure announced that Figure 02 was being retired.
