Kapex is a bipedal humanoid robot unveiled by LG Electronics on November 13, 2025, standing 170 cm tall, weighing 60 kg, and able to carry a 20 kg payload. It was developed by LG in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), and its name combines 'Kaizen' (continuous improvement) with 'apex', reflecting a pursuit of constant improvement and the highest standard.
Kapex runs LG AI Research's EXAONE large model for environmental understanding and autonomous decision-making, and is equipped with multi-fingered dexterous hands for precise grasping; it can walk, avoid obstacles and pick up and place objects in home and public-service environments. LG positions it as a 'general-purpose humanoid robot for the home', with plans to pilot it at its own factories first and then gradually expand to logistics and household scenarios.
LG says Kapex will carry forward its robotics strategy, integrating AI, its home-appliance ecosystem and data advantages, with the goal of launching a commercial version for business environments in 2026 and competing globally on the basis of domestic Korean production.
