NEO Beta is 1X's bipedal humanoid for the home, launched in August 2024 at 167 cm tall and just 30 kg, yet able to carry a 20 kg payload.
NEO Beta is 1X's bipedal humanoid robot for home environments, launched in August 2024. It stands 167 cm tall, weighs only 30 kg and can carry a 20 kg payload. The body uses a knitted shell and biomimetic tendon drive, making it compliant, quiet and low-power: total power draw is about half that of comparable bipedal robots and noise is around 54 dB, which suits it to the home.
Each of NEO's hands has 20 degrees of freedom, enough to handle household chores such as opening doors, pouring coffee and tidying up. On-device AI models handle voice conversation, visual understanding and motion planning, with continuous OTA upgrades. In 2025, 1X began piloting NEO in early-user homes (the NEO Beta home trial programme) and delivered to some enterprise customers.
1X is backed by OpenAI and has raised more than US$200 million in total; in 2026 it will launch the next-generation NEO Gamma and move toward volume production.
